On the morning of September 29, authorities in Thua Thien Hue province said that a freight train had just derailed when it reached the Thua Luu - Lang Co section (Phu Loc district).
Accordingly, at around 9:00 p.m. on September 28, train AH1, locomotive D18E-603, pulling 21 carriages, when reaching Km 752+350 in the Thua Luu - Lang Co section, the locomotive derailed shaft number 1 70 cm from the right rail edge in the direction the train was running.
Upon receiving the news, the dispatching force issued an order to pull 21 carriages of train AH1 back to Thua Luu station at 11:48 p.m. the same day. By 0:00 a.m. on September 29, the DH18E-603 locomotive was rescued and returned to Lang Co station at 0:33 a.m. on September 29.
This is the second consecutive incident on September 28, when freight trains running through Thua Thien Hue derailed.
Previously, at 3:00 a.m. on September 28, locomotive D19E-943 pulled 24 HH16T container cars running on the North-South railway. When reaching the Lang Co - Thua Luu section, nearly 4km from Lang Co station, the train's locomotive derailed from the rails.
Thus, from July 28 to now, there have been 6 train derailments recorded in Thua Thien Hue.
Previously, Vietnam Railways Corporation organized inspection, analysis and assessment of the causes of train derailments. The cause of train derailment is due to the air spring carriages, when passing over a large-diameter track (Tg 0.15), many unfavorable factors will resonate (of the bogie type of carriage with a large wheel axle distance of 2,200mm).
The train passes at low speed, the time the guiding force increases is prolonged, causing the guide wheel to grip the rail and cause derailment.
