New life in the highway resettlement area
At the end of 2022, Trinh Manh Cuong's family (living in Vinh An village, Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province) had to leave their home and hand over their house and land to the local authorities to prepare for the construction of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway. During the 2023 Lunar New Year, Cuong's family had to celebrate the new year in a temporary house. However, this Tet, his family was excited to have built a sturdy house in the expressway resettlement area (Nam Hieu village, Cam Hieu commune).
Mr. Cuong's new house is built on an area of up to 300 square meters. On the first floor of the house, Mr. Cuong has a furniture workshop, and the second floor is where the family of 5 lives.
Mr. Cuong said that when he moved to the resettlement area, his family was able to choose a suitable plot of land, and the infrastructure here was guaranteed, making it convenient for work. “This Tet is no longer as difficult as before because the house is stable. Thanks to that, production is also more favorable,” Mr. Cuong shared.
Like Mr. Cuong, Ms. Ho Thi My Hiep's family (An My village, Cam Tuyen commune, Cam Lo district) has just finished building a house in the resettlement area of Cam Tuyen commune. Ms. My Hiep said that when the land was revoked to build the highway, her family hesitated and worried that it would be difficult to rebuild the house. However, thanks to the compensation of 3.1 billion VND, she was able to build a beautiful house.
"Going to the resettlement area is also convenient, especially the local officials are attentive, so this Tet is stable, no need to temporarily reside anymore" - Ms. My Hiep said.
Support for households resettled on the highway
The Van Ninh – Cam Lo Expressway passes through Vinh Linh, Gio Linh, Cam Lo districts and many households have had their land cleared and are subject to resettlement. Cam Lo district is the first locality to complete the land clearance.
In Cam Lo district, there are 131 households subject to resettlement, currently more than 100 households have drawn lots for land allocation and 25 households have built houses in the resettlement area. Thanks to the compensation money when the land was cleared and the preferential land allocation, the households have the potential to rebuild their houses.
Mr. Tran Hoai Linh - Vice Chairman of Cam Lo District People's Committee said that in order for people subject to land clearance to soon stabilize their lives, the District People's Committee has accelerated the construction progress of the expressway resettlement area; then, it has handed over land to people to build houses.
During the house construction process, the local authorities paid attention to removing problems with electricity and water systems, so all households in the resettlement area are stable.
“Most of the households are temporary residents, last year they celebrated Tet in temporary houses, but this year they have new houses. People are very satisfied,” said Mr. Tran Hoai Linh.
