Gia Lai - The first house in the "Quang Trung Campaign" in the province has been completed and handed over quickly, helping people in flood-hit areas have a home to celebrate Tet.

On December 17, the 34th Army Corps Command and the People's Committee of Gia Lai province held a handover ceremony for the province's first house in the "Quang Trung Campaign" - a rapid campaign to build and repair houses for people who suffered heavy damage due to storms and floods.

The first house was handed over to the family of old man To Thi Tua (88 years old, residing in Chanh Hoi village, Ngo May commune, Gia Lai province).

The solid house, with an area of 55m2, was completed rapidly in just 15 days since the "Quang Trung Campaign" was launched, with a total cost of 130 million VND. Of which, the State supported 60 million VND, the family saved up and borrowed an additional 70 million VND. The construction process mobilized 192 working days for the army and 30 working days for the family, ensuring the criteria "3 hard, 4 hard".

The family of Mrs. To Thi Saoa is one of the households whose houses collapsed due to storm No. 13. The small house where 4 people lived was destroyed by the storm, causing the family life to fall into a makeshift situation.

Moving into a new house, old man To Thi Sa could not hide her emotions. "After storm 13, my house collapsed, so I just hope to have a solid house to live in. I just hope to have a safe place to live for my family. When the soldiers returned to build a house, that dream came true. I am extremely grateful to the local government and the soldiers," said Mr. Sang.

Mr. Sang's son, Mr. Cao Van Muoi (55 years old), said that during the construction process, officers and soldiers of the 7th Engineering Brigade worked day and night without any inconvenience to their family, even on minimalist activities.

"Seeing the brothers working hard, I bought fruit, water to increase energy, and milk to support them, but they all refused, and told my family not to worry. That affection moved the whole family very much," said Mr. Muoi.

Major General Nguyen Tran Long - Deputy Political Commissar of the 34th Corps - said that before, during and after the flood, the unit mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers to participate in preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign", the 34th Corps Command established a Steering Committee, mobilizing more than 900 officers, soldiers and vehicles to participate in building and repairing houses for people in the two provinces of Gia Lai and Dak Lak.

"With the spirit of Quang Trung being quick-witted, not working enough during the day, taking advantage of working at night, making the most of all resources, at all costs to have new houses for people to celebrate Tet. This is an order from the heart, wherever the people are in trouble, there are soldiers," Major General Nguyen Tran Long emphasized.

According to the plan, the 34th Army Corps will build 80 new houses in this campaign. In Gia Lai alone, there are 64 houses, distributed in many areas that suffered heavy damage after floods at the end of November 2025. The remaining houses are being constructed on schedule, expected to be completed before January 20, 2026.

The whole Gia Lai province currently has 674 houses completely damaged by the impact of storm No. 13. Up to now, all new houses that need to be built have been started.

On this occasion, the 34th Army Corps Command and the locality presented many gifts to Mrs. To Thi som's family.
