On the evening of June 9, at the Flower Admission Wharf on the South Bank of Thach Han River (Quang Tri Town, Quang Tri Province), Quang Tri Province Newspaper and Radio and Television Station coordinated with the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri Town to organize the program "Flower Lantern Night on Thach Han River".
Attending the program were leaders of Quang Tri province; officials and employees of Quang Binh Provincial Radio and Television; press agencies resident in Quang Tri and officials and people.

This event took place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21,25 - June 21, 2025), towards the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1945 - July 27, 2025).
In the solemn space, delegates laid wreaths, offered incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Thousands of flower lanterns are then thrown into the Thach Han River, creating a sparkling, magical scene like a bridge connecting the present and the past.

In particular, the program is also an opportunity for journalists - soldiers on the information front to immerse themselves in the spiritual space of Quang Tri Citadel and Thach Han River, to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs.
Speaking in gratitude at the flower lantern night, Mr. Vo Nguyen Thuy, Editor-in-Chief of the Quang Tri Provincial Radio and Television Station, said that more than half a century ago, on the Thach Han River, the fighting, staying and resilient of our army and people took place for 81 historic days and nights from September 28-16, 1972.
The liberation army soldiers have built a majestic monument of steadfast will, gai gai gai, of the will to aspirate for independence and unity, of conscience and human dignity before the fate of the nation...

To pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who died in Quang Tri town and the Thach Han River, in recent years, the ceremony of offering incense, offering flowers and releasing flower lanterns on the Thach Han River has been held regularly on the full moon days of the month and important holidays of the homeland and country. This activity has become a noble gesture for the people of Quang Tri in particular and the people of the whole country in general when coming to this "sacred" land.
Thereby, it demonstrates the affection and responsibility of today's generations towards the previous generations. The event not only has the meaning of gratitude, but also contributes to educating revolutionary traditions, fostering patriotism, national pride and the awareness of protecting peace.
