The People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province has just sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of Construction on the planning of the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway and the Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang expressway.
The province proposed that the Ministry of Construction direct and consider adding the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen Expressway and Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang Expressway to the Road Network Planning and Road Traffic Infrastructure Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The goal is to contribute to the formation of a continuous route connecting existing expressways in the midland and mountainous areas of the North.
The Lang Son - Thai Nguyen Expressway has a total length of about 120km (the section passing through Thai Nguyen is about 50km long); starting point at the intersection with CT.10, at km0+600, Lang Son province; ending point at the intersection with CT.07 Expressway, at km78+00, Thai Nguyen province.
According to calculations, the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway has a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 100km/h, and a roadbed of 24.75m wide. The total estimated investment is about VND29,000 billion.
The Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang Expressway has a total length of about 70km (of which the section passing through Thai Nguyen province is about 30km long); starting point is at the intersection with CT.07 Expressway, at km78+00, Thai Nguyen province; ending point is at the intersection with CT.15, at km0+00, Tuyen Quang province.
The Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang Expressway has a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 100km/h, a wide roadbed of 22.5 m, and a total estimated investment of about 11,000 billion VND.
According to the leader of Thai Nguyen province, in recent years, the province has proactively coordinated with neighboring localities to propose and implement investment in connecting traffic routes, promoting regional linkages.
However, the connectivity of Thai Nguyen and the Northern midland provinces is still limited.
Therefore, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province has coordinated with the People's Committee of Lang Son province and the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province to study and agree on a regional connecting route plan. Proposal to include in the planning of 2 expressways to be completely newly built.
At the end of March 2025, Thai Nguyen also proposed adding the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway planning to the Road Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 and the route connecting Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang province to the Thai Nguyen Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
