Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee has just submitted a report to the Provincial People's Council on the establishment of commune-level urban administrative units under Thai Nguyen province in 2026.
According to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, after implementing the arrangement of administrative units, the locality enters a new development phase with expanded space and large population scale.
At the same time, forming a closely linked development structure between dynamic urban areas, economic corridors, midland and mountainous areas and special ecological zones.

Through review, there are currently 8 commune-level administrative units in the province that meet the conditions and standards for establishing wards according to current legal regulations.
According to the proposal, 8 new wards will be established, including: Cho Don; Dinh Hoa; Dong Hy; Phu Binh; Phu Luong; Quan Chu; Trai Cau and Vo Nhai.
It is expected that this content will be considered and approved by the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Council at the fourth session, held at the end of June 2026.
The establishment of 8 new wards does not change the natural area, population size and number of commune-level administrative units of the province.
If approved, the total number of commune-level administrative units of Thai Nguyen province is 92 units, including 69 communes and 23 wards.
