On June 4, information from the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee said that content distorting the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units in the province has just appeared on the Facebook page "Hoang Dung".
According to the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, these contents deliberately fabricate and swap the nature of policies into stories such as "separating independently", or "reducing from 166 commune-level administrative units to 58 units", in order to cause misunderstanding and incite public opinion in cyberspace.
The Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee affirmed that the arrangement of administrative units is a major and consistent policy of the Party and State, implemented nationwide to streamline the apparatus, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, use resources effectively and serve the people better.
The arrangement of administrative units is carried out publicly, transparently, and in accordance with legal regulations; there is careful research and assessment in many aspects such as population, area, socio-economic development conditions, national defense, security and local governance requirements in the new situation.
After implementing the 2-level local government model from July 1, 2025, Thanh Hoa province still has 166 communes and wards. Continuing to review, research, and propose administrative unit arrangement in the coming time is an objective requirement to overcome the situation that the number of administrative units is still large, the scale of some communes is still small, and investment resources are dispersed.
The arrangement aims to expand development space, improve management and administration capacity, and serve the people more effectively.
Currently, Thanh Hoa province is considering and evaluating the reality to report to the Central Government on the policy of continuing to arrange commune-level administrative units.
Functional agencies of Thanh Hoa province recommend that people be alert to unverified information on social networks; do not share, comment or collude in spreading false, distorted, and incitement content.
