Thanh Hoa warns of very heavy rain and thunderstorms in the next few hours

Thanh Hoa - Many areas are warned of heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, hail and strong gusts of wind in the next few hours.

At 8:40 am on September 14, Thanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station issued a warning of thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and localized heavy rain in the province.

According to the meteorological agency, through monitoring satellite images, lightning positioning data and weather radar, in the past 3 hours, convective cloud areas have developed, causing showers, locally heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms in Thanh Hoa sea area and many areas on land.

Areas where convective clouds have appeared include Cam Thuy, Cam Tu, Dinh Tan, Dong Tien, Kim Tan, Mau Lam, Nga Son, Nhu Thanh, Thach Binh, Thanh Vinh, Thuong Ninh, Truc Lam, Xuan Du, Yen Dinh.

Notably, the developing convective cloud regions in Ninh Binh province are also continuing to move towards Thanh Hoa. The maximum radio response is recorded at 50 dBZ, showing that the convective cloud region is developing strongly.

Forecast from the time of reporting at 8:40 am on September 14 to a few hours later, convective cloud areas will continue to develop and move, causing showers, locally heavy to very heavy rain, scattered thunderstorms and strong winds in the above-mentioned areas.

After that, the thunderstorm area is likely to expand to many other communes and wards, including Hac Thanh, Ham Rong, Sam Son, Bim Son, Nghi Son, Dong Son, Ha Trung, Hau Loc, Hoang Hoa, Thieu Hoa, Trieu Son, Tho Xuan, Thuong Xuan, Ngoc Lac, Ba Thuoc, Vinh Loc, Yen Nhan and many neighboring localities.

The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. There is a risk of tornadoes and high waves appearing at sea.

Dangerous weather phenomena can break trees, damage houses, works at sea, traffic works and infrastructure, causing danger to people.

The level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is determined at level 1. The meteorological agency requests agencies, units and people to regularly monitor weather developments and proactively take preventive measures.
