On July 17, according to the Project Management Board of Area 1 (Dong Nai City People's Committee), the unit is focusing on accelerating the progress of site clearance and completing investment procedures, striving to start the project to build a tunnel through Hoa An bridge in the first quarter of 2027.
The project to build an underpass through Hoa An bridge has a total investment of 310 billion VND, with a total length of 394m, of which the closed tunnel part is 44m long, the open tunnel is 350m long, the cross-section is 11.5m wide, including 2 lanes for motorized vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, sidewalks (combined with management, operation, and maintenance roads). Along with that, the project also builds access roads at both ends of the underpass with a length of 148m; road next to the tunnel from Nguyen Van Tri street to the Cach Mang Thang Tam - Nguyen Ai Quoc intersection with a length of about 225m and technical infrastructure system.

Previously, at the end of 2025, Dong Nai City People's Committee had a decision approving the Project to build an underpass through Hoa An bridge to connect 2 Dong Nai riverside roads including the existing Nguyen Van Tri road and the Dong Nai riverside road, ensuring continuous traffic between 2 roads, contributing to completing the inner city traffic network in Tran Bien ward.
Currently, due to not being directly connected, vehicles traveling from Nguyen Van Tri street through the Dong Nai riverside road and vice versa are forced to circle under Hoa An bridge.

In mid-January 2026, the Dong Nai riverside road (belonging to Tran Bien ward, Dong Nai city, extending from Hoa An bridge to Tan Trieu ward) was officially technically opened to traffic and put into operation. The project to build a 5.2km long road, running along the Dong Nai River. The project has a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND. Of which, 1,339 billion VND is for road construction and 613 billion VND is for riverside embankment.
