On the afternoon of October 26, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tho Ba Re, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district, Nghe An province, said: The local government and functional forces have completed the demolition of 5 houses in Xop Phe village, Muong Tip commune because they are located right next to the newly discovered crack on the mountain.
Previously, 5 households, 26 people and all their assets were evacuated to a safe place by local authorities and functional forces. Of these, 4 households lived with relatives, and one household built a temporary house to continue living.
As Lao Dong reported, on the evening of October 22, people in Xop Phe village, Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district heard a loud explosion coming from the hill area next to provincial road 543D.

Immediately afterwards, people discovered some cracks 10cm wide, about 40cm deep, and more than 100m long running through the floors of houses, so they reported it to the authorities.
Upon receiving the news, the authorities of Ky Son district went to the scene to inspect and assessed this as a very serious incident, with a potential risk of landslides.
Dozens of police officers, border guards, and militiamen coordinated with local authorities to urgently evacuate five households living at the foot of the mountain.
The delegation of Ky Son district came to encourage and give necessities including rice, instant noodles, and drinking water to households that had to be relocated due to the mountain cracking.
Faced with the risk of the mountain crack spreading and deepening, the district directed local authorities to ask people not to return to their old places of residence.
In the coming time, land in resettlement areas in the region will be reviewed to arrange new housing.
The district has also sent people to monitor and assess the extent of the landslide and develop plans to evacuate more households if the affected area spreads further.
