According to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, since the beginning of September, the locality has been affected by two consecutive storms (number 3 and number 4). Along with that, there have been many heavy rains and prolonged floods, causing flooding in low-lying areas, riverside areas, river banks and landslides in many locations.
Due to the impact of two storms, from September 6 to September 23, Thanh Hoa province experienced many widespread heavy rains. Heavy rains in the area combined with floods from upstream caused a major flood in the rivers, causing flooding and landslides in many places.
Notably, serious landslides have occurred at some construction sites, hills, and dykes. In response to this situation, Thanh Hoa province has declared many emergency situations in the localities.
Specifically, on September 23, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a decision to declare an emergency situation for landslides on the slope of the Chinh Cua Dat canal (section from K6+300-K6+500, Phung Giao commune, Ngoc Lac district) due to the impact of storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm.
Next, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province also issued a decision to declare a landslide emergency situation (in the area of Nhu Xuan Secondary and High School, Thanh Quan commune, Nhu Xuan district) and issued a decision to declare a landslide emergency situation (in the area of Lam Phu Secondary School, Lang Chanh district).
In addition, a decision was issued to declare an emergency situation for the Lung Dac landslide (in Khung village, Thiet Ke commune, Ba Thuoc district). Most recently (September 26), the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee continued to declare an emergency situation for the damage to the No Thon culvert (on the left dike of the Ma River, in Vinh An commune, Vinh Loc district).
Along with announcing the above emergency situations, the Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested the districts (where the incidents occurred) to implement warning measures, closely monitor the developments of construction incidents and promptly report when dangerous situations occur; at the same time, widely announce on the mass media so that people know and proactively respond.
Regarding long-term measures, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment and related units to advise and report to competent authorities for consideration and decision on funding support to handle the above incidents.
