100m long mountain crack discovered, 4 households urgently evacuated

Nghe An - Nam Giai Commune, Que Phong urgently evacuated 4 households to safety after discovering a 100m crack on the mountain.

On the afternoon of September 29, information from the People's Committee of Nam Giai commune (Que Phong district, Nghe An) said that the locality had completed the evacuation of 4 households to a safe place due to the discovery of cracks on the mountain.

Accordingly, at noon of the same day, a local resident discovered a long crack in the Pu Meo mountain area and reported it to the commune.

Through inspection, Nam Giai commune found that Pu Meo mountain had a crack about 100m long, the widest point of the crack was about 40cm and nearly 10m deep.

To ensure the safety of the people, Nam Giai commune organized the emergency evacuation of 4 households with 16 people living at the foot of Pu Meo mountain.

Currently, 3 households were taken to the cultural house to live, while 1 household was moved to a relative's house.

It is known that currently, the weather in Nam Giai commune is having heavy rain, the cracks on the mountain are showing signs of spreading. The authorities have now put up ropes and continue to closely monitor the developments to have a timely handling plan.
