TẠ QUANG |

The provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta are facing a historic opportunity to make a strong breakthrough, rise in economic, cultural, social fields... The important driving force for this aspiration is the system of expressways that are being invested in and built, expected to open new development corridors, connecting provinces and cities in the region and the whole country.

Expressway - a boost for socio-economic development

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Permanent Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - said that expressways such as Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang, Can Tho - Ca Mau... play an extremely important and urgent role in synchronously connecting and perfecting the regional transport network. When completed, these expressways will shorten travel time, reduce transportation costs, facilitate trade, attract investment and promote the socio-economic development of Can Tho City and the entire Mekong Delta region.

For Can Tho City, when these expressway axes are completed and put into operation, it will be a great driving force to promote the development of both agriculture - industry - trade - services - tourism of the city, worthy of being the central city of the Mekong Delta region, Mr. Duong Tan Hien emphasized.

Can Tho City leaders expect that the expressways will bring specific impacts, creating strong increases in many fields. First of all, it is necessary to attract investment, the expressway creates a competitive advantage for goods, thereby attracting investors to build factories, companies, and enterprises, creating jobs for local people.

At the same time, the expressway helps connect conveniently to Can Tho International Airport and seaports, creating conditions for tourism development. Transporting goods faster, exporting more, promoting trade inside and outside the region. The expressway also creates conditions for the development of urban areas, industrial parks, logistics centers, and improves transportation capacity.

In addition to bringing economic benefits, expressways also create positive changes in people's lives, helping to increase access to medical, educational, cultural and entertainment services of the big city. For businesses, expressways create conditions to reduce costs, increase business efficiency, and open up new development opportunities. The city also has policies to support businesses to invest, produce and do business, creating a favorable environment for them to take advantage of opportunities from more convenient traffic connections.

According to the leader of Can Tho City, to maximize the efficiency of expressways, Can Tho focuses on synchronizing transport infrastructure, connecting expressways with existing transportation systems (waterway, road). The city has been investing in key projects such as beltways and provincial roads to synchronously and smoothly connect to seaports, airports, industrial parks, and urban centers.

In addition, the Central Government and the city also focus on investing in the synchronous development of the transport infrastructure system for inland waterways, maritime routes, air routes, and railways, creating conditions for Can Tho to promote its central role and regional development momentum.
