The Yen Son Hydropower Project was first granted an investment certificate by the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province on September 25, 2011, and the project started construction at the end of December 2013.
The investor is Binh Minh Construction and Tourism Group Joint Stock Company. In early 2024, the project was adjusted to increase the total investment capital to VND 3,918 billion, with a capacity of 90MW with 3 units, to be completed in 2025.
Recorded at the beginning of June 2025, at the Yen Son Hydropower Project (Tuyen Quang province), many items have been formed and are being completed such as overflow cavities, right- shoulder dams, locations for planting generators, and floodgates.


According to the investor's progress report, the concrete pouring of the overflow cavities and right shoulder dams will be completed in July to install valve doors and test the operation of valve doors in October 2025.
Mr. Le Xuan Tuan - Commander of Yen Son Hydropower Project said that the spillway items are being urgently supervised by the investor, general contractor, and consultant to be constructed continuously in 3 shifts to be able to reach the flood-proof elevation before the 2025 rainy season arrives.
Up to now, the project has basically completed important items such as the construction of factories and discharge canals. Some other items such as the 220KV line and distribution station and factory are being accelerated for completion, acceptance and load testing in November 2025.


When officially put into operation, Yen Son Hydropower Plant will contribute tens of billions of VND each year to the budget and create jobs for many local workers, helping to transform the economic structure such as cage fish farming, developing eco-tourism, community tourism
According to the investor, all construction items are meeting the set schedule to ensure the installation of all 3 generators and conduct commercial power generation by the end of 2025 as approved by the investment policy.
The Yen Son Hydropower Project is located in 10 communes of Yen Son and Chiem Hoa districts, Tuyen Quang province, including 3 generators, with a total capacity of 90MW, and a total investment of VND 3,918 billion.
This is also the second largest hydropower plant in Tuyen Quang (after Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant, with a capacity of 342 MW) and is the final steps in the hydropower system on the Gam River approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The project, once completed, will provide the national grid with 356.9 million kWh per year.
