As Lao Dong reported, in mid-July 2020, the Red River bank (left Thao dike) passing through Lam Thao commune (Thach Son commune, old Lam Thao district) suffered a serious landslide, with a length of about 1.2km and an average width of about 40m.
Most seriously, the section from Km72+800 to Km73+100, there was a phenomenon of deep tornadoes, landslides about 60m of alluvial plain, eating deep to the foot of the embankment, only 8 - 10m from the top of the embankment... threatening the safety of people's lives, property and agricultural production activities.

In recent days, the right bank of the Red River (right bank of Thao) passing through Tam Nong commune (Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district) has also experienced landslides. According to the report of the People's Committee of Tam Nong commune, due to the impact of storm No. 5 (KAJIKI) causing heavy rain since the end of August, the river water level rose, the strong flow caused many sections of the right dike of Thao to be seriously eroded.
In particular, for about a week now, the area between Huong Non and the section Km72+400 to Km73+300 has been continuously eroded, eroding from 5 - 14m deep, washing away more than 15 hectares of cropland.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on September 9, the landslide section of nearly 1km long of riverbank and embankment is very high, above which are colorful land, fences, concrete roads of the people... At Km73+100 to Km73+300, the landslide has approached the residential area, directly affecting house number 81, residential area 12.
To ensure safety, the authorities have urgently evacuated one household and identified 5 other households as being at high risk, ready to evacuate when new developments occur.

Currently, Tam Nong commune has established warning checkpoints, erected barriers, and regularly reported on the radio system to warn people. At the same time, local forces coordinated with militia and people to monitor developments, ready to evacuate people and property to ensure the safety of life and property for households in the danger zone.
Previously, on September 4, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Dinh Cong Su and leaders of departments and branches directly inspected the scene, directed the implementation of urgent measures, and requested close monitoring and regular reporting to promptly respond.
The People's Committee of Tam Nong commune also proposed that the province soon allow the construction of an emergency treatment project for the section Km73+100 to Km73+300 to protect residents and infrastructure in the area.
