For the past 13 years, the two debt books of Ms. T - the owner of a stationery store in Kien Duc town, Dak R'lap district - have been carefully kept.
At first glance, the edge of the debt book was peeling and torn, but the content inside was still very clear and clear. All of these shows the quantity of goods that the People's Committee of Kien Thanh Commune and the Party Committee and People's Committee of Kien Duc Town have purchased but have not yet paid.
According to Ms. T, in the period of 20202021, cadres at the Party Committee and People's Committee of Kien Duc town bought many goods at the store, including stationery, beer, soft drinks and gifts. To date, the total debt that the cadres of the Kien Duc Town Party Committee and People's Committee have to pay is more than 90 million VND.
In addition to the Party Committee and People's Committee of Kien Duc town, in the period of 2013-2021, the People's Committee of Kien Thanh commune also owed this business household more than 80 million VND. The debts have been signed by local officials, but have not been paid yet.
According to Ms. T, although she has repeatedly gone to the People's Committee of Kien Duc town and the Party Committee and People's Committee of Kien Thanh commune to request payment, these two units have not yet resolved the issue.
Recently, she was forced to submit a petition to the leaders of Dak R'lap District Party Committee, hoping that the district would have instructions for the two localities to fulfill their payment obligations.
Similarly, Ms. L, who is selling fresh flowers in Kien Duc town, is also a creditor of a number of officials in the Party Committee and People's Committee of Kien Duc town. According to Ms. L, from 2023 to present, officials at the Party Committee and People's Committee of Kien Duc town have not paid her the debt of about 18 million VND.
Ms. L was upset: "All flower products have been delivered since 2023. I have contacted many times to request payment of the debt but have not received any response from the locality. In the near future, when the communes are merged, I am worried that I will not be able to reclaim the money, so I recently had to send a petition to the district, hoping for support".
According to the investigation, in addition to the two cases mentioned above, a number of other business households in Dak R'lap district have also submitted a petition to the district leaders to request direction for relevant localities to pay the debt.
It is worth mentioning that most of these debts have lasted for many years and are related to retired or transferred officials.
Information from the People's Committee of Kien Duc town said that the unit is expected to establish a working group to verify. However, it is not yet possible to confirm whether it can be paid or not, but we must wait for opinions from the Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee and the District People's Committee.
The leader of the Dak R'lap District People's Committee said that the unit has received information reflecting on some localities owing business households and is directing relevant units to inspect, verify and advise on handling plans.
