According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, currently, the project "Renovation and upgrading of National Highway 8C, the section from Thien Cam - National Highway 2" in Cam Xuyen district with a length of 11km is still in disarray, the construction volume is low, while according to the schedule, the project must be completed by October 2025.
In particular, the section through Cam Xuyen town is still stuck with medium voltage power grids and un relocated residential power, causing difficulties and dangers for construction.
Directly commanding the construction at the construction site, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoan - Deputy Head of the construction team of Joint Stock Company 484 - said that his company is responsible for the construction of 700m at the "Renovation and Upgrade of National Highway 8C" Project since October 2023.
However, after nearly 2 years since the project was implemented, the construction unit is still stuck with 31 medium-voltage power poles and household electricity for people on both sides of the road. Therefore, the construction is very difficult and dangerous when having to "jump up" to avoid the electric pole.
"It happened twice during the construction process, the excavator touched the power grid, causing an accident. Fortunately, there is an automatic power outage system so it is not a danger to the lives of workers and drivers, Mr. Hoan shared.
According to Mr. Hoan, due to problems related to the power grid, the construction is delayed, while the ditches on both sides of the road have been dug up, affecting the travel and business of households.

"We hope that local authorities will soon relocate the power grid so that we can construct smoothly, safely and speed up the progress, minimizing the impact on people," said Mr. Hoan.
On the afternoon of April 21, Mr. Le Ngoc Ha - Vice Chairman of Cam Xuyen District People's Committee - said that currently, at the "Renovation and Upgrade of National Highway 8C" project through Cam Xuyen district, there are still many power poles that have not been relocated.
The reason is that previously, when designing the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 8C, there was no mention of the design to relocate the power line system. During the project implementation, the relocation of new power lines was added, leading to slow site clearance.
According to Mr. Ha, the People's Committee of Cam Xuyen district has completed the bidding procedures for the construction of a new power line system to clear the old power line on National Highway 8C.
"Currently, the bid has been won and construction has begun. The longest section is expected to be completed in 2 months. The fastest section will be relocated in a few weeks. In the immediate future, to ensure safe construction, we will temporarily relocate the power grid," Mr. Ha shared.

A leader of the Ha Tinh Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that the project "Renovation and upgrading of National Highway 8C, section from Thien Cam - National Highway 1" has currently completed nearly 50% of the volume, expected to be completed and handed over in October 2025.
However, due to the problems with site clearance for some households and power grid problems, the unit has requested Cam Xuyen district to promptly hand over 100% of the site so that contractors can speed up the construction progress to hope to complete the project on schedule.
