On the afternoon of September 16, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board - the investor of the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway expansion project said that the project is currently in the survey and technical design stage. After completing the approval procedures, the bidding will be conducted.
Accordingly, the total estimated investment is about VND6,400 billion, including: construction costs, expansion, site clearance, traffic management system, rest stops, other costs and contingency costs.
The project is expected to start construction around October 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026.
Previously, in October 2024, the Government approved the investment policy for the North-South Expressway Expansion Project in the East, Cam Lo - La Son section, increasing the scale from 2 lanes to 4 lanes.
The route is about 98.35 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 6,488 billion.
According to the plan, the starting point of the project is at Km0+000 (Quang Tri province), connecting to the end of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway; the end point is at Km102+200 (Hue city), connecting to the starting point of the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway.
The investment scope includes expanding roadbeds, road surfaces and ancillary works along the entire route, ensuring synchronous technical infrastructure, meeting 4-lane standards.
The Cam Lo - La Son Expressway is 98.3 km long, passing through two localities including Quang Tri (37.3 km) and Hue City (61 km). The route started construction in September 2019 and will be put into operation from the end of 2022, with a total initial investment of about VND 7,669 billion.
