The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 6, Ba La - Xuan Mai section, was started at the end of 2022, with a total investment of about 9,590 billion VND.
The project has a length of 21.7km, with a cross-section scale of 50-60m.
This is a key traffic project of the city, of particular importance in completing the radial traffic axis in the Southwest of the Capital.
The project has a total area to be recovered of about 105.13 hectares in wards and communes, including: Kien Hung, Duong Noi, Phu Luong, Yen Nghia, Chuong My, Phu Nghia and Xuan Mai.
Up to now, localities have completed site clearance (GPMB) and handed it over to investors to implement the project.
Xuan Mai commune is one of the last localities to complete site clearance for the National Highway 6 expansion project.
With a length of 6.53km passing through Xuan Mai commune, the section of National Highway 6 in Xuan Mai commune has a total recovered area of 38.58 ha with 1,804 land plots related to 1,376 households, individuals and 21 agencies and organizations.
Site clearance work faces many obstacles due to the large volume of clearance and the complex nature of land.
Xuan Mai area has many solid houses and high-rise buildings. The clearance is not only limited to land but also a complex dismantling problem: it is necessary to "cut" a part of the housing area to expand the road, and also to support people to maintain their lives and stabilize the business frontage.
In addition, the origin of land use through many historical periods has complex fluctuations. In addition, the commune must simultaneously implement two major tasks: both site clearance for the key route National Highway 6 and site clearance for the Dong Cham and Dong Vai resettlement area projects.
With the determination of the entire political system, by July 29, 2026, 100% of households, individuals and organizations affected by the National Highway 6 expansion project in Xuan Mai commune have voluntarily signed the land handover minutes.
To reassure people to hand over land, the work of finding new housing for households subject to clearance is always put first by the commune Party Committee and government.
The Dong Cham, Dong Vai resettlement area construction project with a scale of 27.4 ha, total investment of 7174 billion VND has completed all site clearance work and is urgently deploying modern technical infrastructure items.
Currently, Xuan Mai commune is urgently completing the final procedures to organize a lottery and allocate resettlement land to eligible households, ensuring that people soon stabilize their lives in a synchronous and civilized resettlement area.
For the National Highway 6 expansion project, according to the direction of Hanoi city, when contractors are handed over a clean site, they need to mobilize sufficient manpower and vehicles to accelerate progress, determined to implement technical traffic opening before the Lunar New Year Dinh Mui 2027 and complete the entire project in the first quarter of 2027.
