According to the leader of the People's Committee of Long Bien Ward (Long Bien District), the inspection determined that this is not a childcare facility. Taking care of the children is just an agreement between families, asking for hourly childcare and then paying. There are no eye-catching decorations for children in the house, and there are no signs or signs showing that they are taking care of children.
"On the afternoon of February 15, the child was taken to the daycare center overnight. At 11am the next day, the caregiver called the family to inform them that the girl was being treated at the hospital. When relatives arrived at the hospital, the doctor informed that the child had died" - the leader of Long Bien Ward People's Committee informed.
Regarding the incident, the Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a document directing the urgent inspection and clarification of the case of a 5-month-old baby who died in Long Bien district.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha assigned the Long Bien District People's Committee to direct the district's functional agencies to urgently inspect, verify, clarify the incident, and strictly handle violations (if any); report to the City People's Committee on the implementation results before February 19, 2025.
Assign the City Police and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, based on their functions and tasks, to coordinate with Long Bien District to direct functional units to inspect, verify, and handle the case according to regulations; report to the City People's Committee on contents beyond their authority (if any).
As Lao Dong reported, according to the complaint of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (character's name has been changed) - in Giang Bien ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi, due to busy work, she went online to access childcare groups to find someone to look after her.
When she saw a woman named N on Tram Street (Long Bien Ward, Long Bien District) taking care of the child, Ms. Lan contacted and asked to look after her 5-month-old daughter.
Ms. N introduced herself as a preschool teacher and sent some photos of the children being cared for at home by Ms. N. The price of daycare is 150 thousand VND/day, at night is 250 thousand VND/night. Ms. Lan then sent her child to Ms. N according to the agreed price.
On the morning of February 16, Ms. Lan asked Ms. N if she was upset last night, but Ms. N said she woke her up twice and gave her milk.
At around 11am the same day, Ms. N suddenly reported that the child had to be taken to the emergency room. Ms. Lan went to the hospital and heard that her daughter had not survive.
Immediately afterwards, Ms. Lan and her family reported the incident to the authorities of Long Bien district.
According to Ms. Lan, before sending her child to Ms. N to look after, her daughter was completely healthy. The fact that her daughter suddenly had to be hospitalized for emergency care and died has made her family skeptical. She and her family are waiting for the investigation results of the authorities.
Working with the authorities, Ms. N's husband said that the wife has an intermediate degree in preschool education and has taught at a number of private schools in the area. Recently, Ms. N quit her job and stayed at home to take care of her family. When she went online, Ms. N saw someone posting a post looking for someone to look after her child during the shift, so she proactively texted and took care of the girl to earn extra income.
