Regarding the situation of arranging and organizing the apparatus, Can Tho city is currently developing a plan to arrange commune-level administrative units according to the Central's orientation. Mr. Chau Viet Tha - Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City - informed that the city plans to reduce the number of commune-level administrative units by 70 - 75%.

According to the Director of the Department of Home Affairs, the plan is only a draft. When the National Assembly Standing Committee issues an official resolution on the arrangement of administrative units, the city will base on standards and orientations to complete the project.
"On that basis, the city will organize to collect public opinions before implementing. The collection of public opinions will be organized in a direct manner through households and to each household" - Mr. Tha added.
At this time, the Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City is also focusing on reviewing each case, comparing it with Decree 178 as well as updating the provisions of Decree 67 for consideration and resolution in the coming time.
The Department will appraise the conditions and standards to advise competent authorities for approval and, on that basis, will promptly resolve them for those affected by the organizational arrangement. It is known that up to now, there have been more than 300 cases of civil servants in Can Tho who have submitted applications for leave under Decree 178.
As for civil servants and public employees with sufficient capacity and experience, the Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City informed that the city will consider retaining them to arrange them appropriately in the new administrative apparatus.
