On the morning of December 19, at km44+700 (Lang Chieng village, Nhan Ly commune), the People's Committee of Lang Son province held a ceremony to open the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project.
This is a national key transport infrastructure project, of special interest to the Central and local governments, expected to create new development momentum for the border gate economy and connect the Northeast region.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; leaders of the Ministry of Construction and representatives of central and local ministries and branches.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung emphasized that the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway plays an important role in socio-economic development, creating new endogenous momentum for the country in the period of 2026-2030.

The opening of the route shows the high determination and proactiveness of all levels and sectors from the central to local levels in organizing and implementing the project.
The Minister requested Lang Son province, investors and related units to continue to complete the remaining items and effectively exploit the expressway.
In parallel with the development of transport infrastructure, the locality needs to promote foreign affairs, economic diplomacy, technology, culture; strengthen cooperation and trade with Chinese localities, exploit the potential and advantages for rapid and sustainable development.

According to the People's Committee of Lang Son province, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project is nearly 60 km long, passing through 9 communes and wards, with a total investment of over VND 11,000 billion, implemented under the form of a BOT contract. The expressway connects three major border gates including Huu Nghi, Coc Nam and Tan Thanh.
By December 19, the project had opened a route of 50 km, including 37 km of the main route of Huu Nghi - Chi Lang section and 13 km of the route connecting Tan Thanh and Coc Nam border gates.
The road surface items, traffic safety system, lighting and intelligent traffic control system (TS) are being urgently constructed to ensure synchronous exploitation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Doan Thanh Son said that when completed, the expressway will connect with Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway, forming a strategic traffic axis from the northern border area to major economic centers of the country, in accordance with the Vietnam Expressway Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The project is also identified as an important link of the Nam Ninh - Lang Son - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh economic corridor, contributing to the formation of a trans-Asia economic corridor, promoting the role of Lang Son as an international trade gateway, promoting the development of industry, trade, services, logistics, tourism and import and export.
The units have organized the construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams", throughout the holidays, mobilizing nearly 3,000 engineers and workers to stay at the construction site for more than 600 days and nights, completing the goal of opening the route as planned.

It is expected that by the end of 2025, the construction volume will reach about 80% of the contract value; the entire project will strive to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, contributing to promoting the economic and social development of Lang Son and the region.
