As the first section of the North-South expressway axis in the East, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project started construction on April 21, 2024, passing through 11 communes and wards of Lang Son province. With a total investment of up to VND 11,029 billion, this expressway project is invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.

On the entire route of 59.2 km, the construction atmosphere these days continues to be urgent, the working pace is pushed to the highest level. After the "storm overlap, flood over flood" period, contractors are currently mobilizing more than 2,800 personnel, 1,230 equipment, deploying over 148 construction teams. The implementation value to date has reached VND 3,942/4,572 billion, equivalent to more than 86% of the output required for the route.

The Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project has a total of 38 bridges. Along the bridge cluster Km41+450 Km41+825 Km42+825 (Nhan Ly commune) with a total length of more than 1 km, the construction force is urgently completing the bridge deck.

Mr. Tran Van Chuan (left) - Deputy Director of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway Project Management Board, said: "There is not much time left from now until December 19, we are determined to speed up construction, take advantage of working day and night to complete the goal of opening the route in response to the trust of the Government, government and people of Lang Son province".

At Km44 (Nhan Ly commune), the construction force is focusing on spreading crushed stone. Not far away, many sections of the route have completed the asphalt concrete paving process.

Taking advantage of the dry weather, construction teams at this section are deployed continuously in 3 shifts and 4 teams, taking advantage of every hour to complete the final items ready to open the route.

At the section Km22+100 - Km22+400 (Dong Kinh ward), the asphalt concrete paving work is also being accelerated by the construction force.

The asphalt paving line in this section currently mobilizes 15 equipment and 30 workers, working from 7am - 8pm every day. In favorable weather conditions, the contractor mobilized vehicles carrying asphalt concrete from the mixing station with modern carpet lines and many rolling equipment to carry out asphalt concrete paving on the road surface.

The asphalt paving process is carried out with strict technical requirements. Maintain the asphalt concrete temperature from 145 - 165 degrees Celsius, the rolling temperature from 120 - 140 degrees Celsius. Carry out many layers of rolling to ensure the road surface is flat and compact.

At the Km32 section (Chien Thang commune), construction teams are focusing on constructing the K98 roadbed and crushed stone foundation, and deploying auxiliary items to be ready to enter the asphalt paving stage when the weather and technical conditions allow.

The Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project aims to open 50 km of the route, including 19 km on a asphalt concrete layer. In general, the entire project has about 78 km paved, creating a clear appearance for the expressway before the opening date.

The opening of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project in 2025 is a milestone contributing to the completion of the Prime Minister's "heartolution" and realizing the goal of connecting the 3,000 km expressway network from Cao Bang to Ca Mau.
When completed, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway will connect with the Dong Dang - Tra Linh and Bac Giang - Lang Son expressways, helping to reduce accidents and congestion on National Highway 1, creating a strategic traffic corridor connecting the Northeast region, serving the movement of goods across the Vietnam - China border, promoting economic development in the border area.
