Lam Dong - Many localities simultaneously launched peak periods to recover weapons and untrap wild animals to protect biodiversity in old forests and primeval forests.

Handing over weapons, the responsibility is not just anyone's

On February 1st, leaders of Cat Tien 3 Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) said that the locality had just organized propaganda and mobilized people to hand over weapons, explosives and wildlife traps.

The weapon recovery work is chaired by Cat Tien 3 Commune Police, in coordination with Bu Sa Forest Protection Station, widely deployed to local people.

Through this, functional forces have recovered many dangerous exhibits, contributing to ensuring security and order and protecting forests in the area.

According to Cat Tien 3 Commune Police, during the mobilization, people voluntarily handed over 4 homemade guns, including 2 alcohol guns and 2 flintlock guns with high lethality.

Along with that, through forest protection patrols, functional forces have discovered and removed 87 wild animal traps of all kinds, scattered in forest areas bordering Cat Tien National Park.

From the recovered weapons and animal traps, it shows that the situation of using homemade weapons and setting wild animal traps still poses many potential risks, not only encroaching on forest resources but also directly threatening the safety of people when going into the forest.

According to the forest rangers, many types of traps are rudimentary in structure but have high tightening force, which can cause serious injuries to both humans and animals.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Trung Kien - Head of Cat Tien 3 Commune Police - said that in the past time, the unit has proactively coordinated with the forest ranger force to strengthen the grasp of the situation, review key areas; and at the same time promote propaganda to help people understand the legal regulations on the management and use of weapons, explosives and wildlife protection.

The recovery of a large quantity of homemade weapons and animal traps in this phase is the result of direct mobilization at the grassroots level, combined with legal propaganda with a commitment not to handle cases of voluntary handover," Lieutenant Colonel Kien said.

According to Cat Tien 3 Commune Police, in the coming time, the unit will continue to maintain propaganda and mobilization work in parallel with inspection and strictly handle violations, in order to limit the recurrence of illegal weapon possession and setting traps for wild animals, contributing to maintaining security and order and protecting forest resources.

Exchanging gifts for weapons and support tools

Recently, Bao Lam 5 Commune Police (Lam Dong) organized the "Exchanging gifts for weapons and support tools" model, creating consensus and positive response among the people.

Through the program, people voluntarily handed over 5 homemade guns, air guns and many support tools and items that could be dangerous.

This activity contributes to limiting the risk of accidents and violations of laws related to weapons, while raising people's awareness of law compliance.

In addition, Bao Lam 5 Commune Police strengthened direct propaganda in residential areas, integrating and disseminating legal regulations on the management and use of weapons, explosives and supporting tools, helping people understand the harmful effects and legal responsibilities when illegally storing and using them.
