On August 16, Hieu Giang Commune Police (Quang Tri Province) said they had verified the information of a Facebook account named "Oanh Mai" reflecting at Km9 Dien Bien Phu Street, Tan Hieu Village, a gang used an electric gun to shoot a pedestrian.
Through verification, the account owner, Ms. M.T.O (born in 1979, residing in Dong Ha ward, currently temporarily residing in Hieu Giang commune) has a history of mental illness, often having hallucinations of being "electrified".
Previously, Ms. O had repeatedly reported similar content to the police but there was no evidence, witnesses and no record of law violations.
Hieu Giang Commune Police confirmed that the information Ms. O posted on social media was untrue.
The authorities mobilized the family to coordinate management and took Ms. O to the hospital for treatment.
