Hiring a fleet of trucks and containers set up in front of the store to prevent Wipha from hitting the storm

Quang Ninh - Learning from the experience of storm Yagi, many stores in Ha Long, Bai Chay, Hong Gai... have built containers and stacked large bricks in vulnerable locations.

Since noon on July 21, some stores and restaurants in front areas, especially the sea, have erected containers at the doors and areas with weak barriers... to prevent and combat storm No. 3 (Wipha).

Many people also rent container trucks to carry large blocks of bricks, while the whole belt is placed around the store.

Some store owners even hired trucks to shield them from the storm.

This is one of the effective solutions to prevent storms from hitting the wind, which was used by some owners of stores and restaurants during the terrible devastating storm Yagi last September.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Vinh - a electronics store owner in Ha Long ward - said that last year he had to rent a few containers, inside which were heavy materials to ensure the wind did not shift, to place in weak locations of the store.

Thanks to that, the store was not affected much, while the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi was terrible.

Therefore, before this storm was predicted to be very strong, he rented containers to prevent and combat the storm, although the cost per day was not small, but it was still better if it was unfortunately destroyed by the storm.

Currently, rain and wind in some areas of Quang Ninh have begun to increase.

From 8:00 p.m., in Bach Long Vi special area, there were strong winds of level 8, gusting to level 10; Co To and Cat Ba special areas had strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 8; in Mong Cai, strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 8.

From 9:45 p.m. on July 21, the provincial authorities have set up barriers to prohibit motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles from crossing Bai Chay Bridge.

To serve people who need to travel, the Department of Construction has arranged trucks to pick up and drop off motorbikes for free across the bridge. The Traffic Police force also arranged enough troops at both sides of the bridge to control and divert vehicles, not allowing motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles to cross the bridge.

The authorities also recommend that people stay at home to ensure safety; do not go out or participate in traffic when there is no really urgent work. For cars and motor vehicles traveling on the road, drivers need to absolutely comply with the principle of ensuring safety, life and property for themselves and everyone during heavy rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms, especially when storms make landfall.
