According to information from Hoa Binh Hydropower Company, from the time Unit 1 was connected to the national grid (20:20 on December 30, 1988) to November 9, 2024, the unit has produced 280 billion kWh. This event marks a 36-year journey of managing, operating and effectively exploiting the country's multi-purpose strategic hydropower project.
It is known that in 1979, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant project was officially started; completed in 1994, with 8 units, total capacity of 1,920 MW, annual electricity output of about 8-9 billion kWh. Currently, Hoa Binh Hydropower contributes about 1,000 billion VND/year to the budget of Hoa Binh province.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant has played an important role in regulating flood control for the Northern Delta region and contributing to ensuring electricity supply for the country's economic and social development.
