In August, the reporter noted at the expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, modern vehicles and machinery are operating continuously, coordinated smoothly with progress.
The project was built on the right side of the existing dam, independent of the items of the old factory.
After more than 4 years of continuous construction, all items serving the supply of water for the energy route have been completed and are ready for trial operation.
Engineer Truong Cong Hung (contractor LILAMA 10) said: "The teams work in shifts, strictly comply with safety regulations, and do not have serious work accidents".
According to the Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1) - the investor's representative unit managing the project, the No. 1 equipment team has completed the installation of Francis vertical turbines, generators, acceleration systems, 500kV transformers and auxiliary systems.
The voltage, GIS, and IPB items are all in the experimental and validation phase. The No. 2 group of machines has also reached about 90% of the installed volume.
The main items such as water intake gates, vertical wells, underpasses - water drainage tunnels, hydropower plants and discharge channels have been basically completed.
The water intake is reinforced concrete to a height of 122.5m, installed with garbage barriers, valve doors, axle bridges and auxiliary equipment. The water pipeline system is about 800m long, 11m in diameter and has been reinforced, steel plated and wrapped, ensuring the design flow.
All materials and equipment are strictly inspected from factory, transportation to installation. The results of observation and comparison testing showed that the project was stable, with no signs of abnormality.
The blasting process of tunnel excavation is closely monitored, the parameters always fluctuate below the permitted limit, ensuring safety for existing works and the environment.
Mr. Bui Phuong Nam, Director of the Power 1 Project Management Board, said: The unit has mobilized maximum human resources and equipment, applied flexible technical measures to ensure both progress and maintained quality and safety.
The spirit is not to back down in the face of any difficulties, to complete the power generation goal on time.
When completed, the project will add about 480MW to the national power system, improve water regulation capability, and reduce operational pressure for the old plant.
The representative of the project management investor also said that after the energy line is recharged, it is expected that the No. 1 plant will be tested and commercialally generated on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution.
Plant No. 2 is expected to complete power generation in December 2025. Some auxiliary items will be deployed after the flood season but will not affect operations.
The Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion project was approved by Prime Minister Chinh Phu in Decision No. 389/TTg-CN dated April 11, 2018, with a total investment of VND 9,220 billion, with a scale of 2 generators, total capacity of 480MW.
This is a national key project, not only in terms of economy and technology, but also has special political significance when associated with the historical milestone of the country.
