The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document directing to focus maximum resources to complete and start construction of 5 expressway and urban railway projects connecting Long Thanh airport according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
Complete Ring Road 3 and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway before June 30.
Two key road projects, Ring Road 3 HCMC and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, are required to be fully completed and put into operation before June 30, 2026.
Ring Road 3, more than 76 km long, passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh, is under construction with a scale of 4 expressway lanes, with a total investment of more than 75.300 billion VND, currently reaching nearly 80% of the volume.
When completed, this road will not only reduce traffic pressure for the inner city area but also open up a corridor for urban - industrial development, promoting growth for the entire Southern key economic region, especially strengthening connectivity with Long Thanh airport.

Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway is nearly 54 km long, with a scale of 4 - 6 lanes, total capital of about 17,800 billion VND.
When put into operation, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway will shorten the travel time from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau from about 120 minutes to 70 minutes, and at the same time increase the transport capacity of passengers and goods to Long Thanh airport.

Groundbreaking ceremony for 2 metro lines connecting HCMC - Long Thanh airport
Metro line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section) is requested by Ho Chi Minh City leaders to accelerate construction progress, striving to complete the entire project and put it into operation by 2030. The line is nearly 11.27 km long, with a total investment of more than 55,000 billion VND, starting construction on January 15, 2026.

For Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section), Ho Chi Minh City directs to urgently organize the preparation, appraisal, and approval of the project, ensuring sufficient conditions for commencement before April 30, 2026.
This route is about 5.58 km long with 6 underground stations, assigned to Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company to prepare a feasibility study report in the form of PPP (BT contract).
The route starts from Ben Thanh station, follows Ham Nghi road, crosses the Saigon River to Thu Thiem and ends at Thu Thiem station, with a preliminary total investment of about 46.300 billion VND.

The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh urban railway line is assigned to accelerate the progress of project investment preparation, striving to start construction before June 30, 2026.
This route is about 42 km long, designed with a double track of 1,435 mm gauge, maximum speed of 120 km/h, including 20 stations (16 elevated stations and 4 underground stations), with a total investment of about 84,753 billion VND. The project has also been assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to Dai Quang Minh to study and prepare a feasibility study.

By 2030, when Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section and Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section) and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh line are completed, it will directly connect Tan Son Nhat airport - Ho Chi Minh City center - Long Thanh airport.
Passengers from Tan Son Nhat airport can move to Ba Queo station to take Metro Line 2 to Ben Thanh station, continue to Thu Thiem station and connect the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line to Long Thanh airport.
