The central pedestrian street project of Thai Nguyen province started construction in the second quarter of 2025 with a total investment of nearly 900 billion VND. The project has an area of nearly 7ha, located on golden land connected to Vo Nguyen Giap Square.
The pedestrian street is more than 330m long, more than 52m wide, located between two blocks of houses and a basement of more than 1.9ha. Here there is a commercial space serving residents and tourists.

To deploy pedestrian streets, a series of headquarters and agencies had to be relocated to give way to the project. This is a symbolic work, playing an important role in creating a new face for the city, and is a cultural and tourism highlight of the locality.

At the construction site, hundreds of workers and machinery and equipment were mobilized to speed up the project progress.
Many main items at the project such as ground leveling, inter-area traffic, drainage system, underground infrastructure and main main roads are deployed synchronously. During the elevated construction process, safety measures are focused on.
According to the Management Board of the central pedestrian street project of Thai Nguyen province, from the end of March, construction units will deploy more important items such as electricity and water systems, landscape construction, waterproofing of tunnel lids and completion of the upper part of the tunnel lid.
To deploy technical infrastructure items connected to the surrounding area, the project management board is coordinating with the locality to implement a number of contents related to site clearance.
The unit requested the locality to support site clearance for the columns on the sidewalks of Nguyen Du and Hung Vuong streets.
One of the important items of the project is the construction of the tunnel with an area of 1.9ha. To date, the construction unit has completed the foundation, columns and tunnel walls. The tunnel lid alone has reached about 80% of the volume and is expected to be completed in about 2 weeks.
In parallel with the basement item, architectural works on the ground are also being implemented according to the plan. The commercial housing area has completed the entire foundation, and some units have been built to the 2nd floor.
A basic technical infrastructure system has been formed, in which the internal roadbed has been completed and is preparing for the concrete pouring and stone paving stage to be completed.
According to the plan, the central pedestrian street of Thai Nguyen province will be completed and put into use in early Q4. 2026.
When completed, the project will be a space for organizing community, cultural, and artistic events. At the same time, it will elevate the urban landscape, creating an attractive destination for people and tourists.
