In October 2025, due to the impact of storm No. 11's circulation, many highland communes in the North of Thai Nguyen suffered heavy damage.
Especially, in Kim Van village (Van Lang commune), prolonged flooding affects people's lives.
The entire Kim Van village has 27 households completely flooded, in some places up to 7 meters deep. The whole village lost power, clean water was scarce, and people had to move to highlands or to relatives' houses.

It is known that Kim Van village is the "flood center" of Van Lang commune, the whole area has only one drainage cave entrance, when garbage and soil and rocks filled the cave entrance, water overflowed, submerging the entire village.
Faced with the above situation, the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee issued an order to build an emergency project for a population stabilization area in flooded areas in Kim Van village, Van Lang commune.
Started in May 2026, Kim Van Resettlement Area has a scale of about 4ha, with a total investment of more than 30 billion VND.
The project is planned with 42 residential land plots and a synchronous technical infrastructure system, meeting the needs of resettlement arrangement for households located in areas at risk of natural disasters.
By mid-July 2026, the ground leveling item at the project has reached more than 70% of the volume; electricity and clean water systems and infrastructure items are being accelerated.
The resettlement area is built on a high terrain, limiting the risk of flooding and landslides.
According to the plan, the project will complete electricity and water infrastructure in July 2026 so that people can soon build houses.

Ms. Le Thanh Lien (Van Lang commune) said: "Local people are very much looking forward to the resettlement area project. In the past, Kim Van area often fell into flooding, so life was very hard. Now that there is a safe resettlement area, people will have a stable life.
On July 14, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nong Thi Diep - Chairwoman of Van Lang Commune People's Committee said that units are mobilizing all machinery and equipment to accelerate the project progress. Striving to complete the site in July.
After completing the site, the locality will allow people to draw lots to choose locations to build houses to stabilize their lives.
Currently, people still live in old houses, some equipment and crops are moved to safe places. Before the rainy and flood season, the locality also has timely warnings. When the resettlement area is completed, people will build houses," the leader added.
