On the evening of November 19, Mr. Bui Quoc Huan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Lac Duong commune (Lam Dong) - said that a man had just been swept away by floodwaters and gone missing.
Initial information said that at around 4:30 p.m. the same day, Mr. Thang (38 years old, owner of a sturgeon farm in Dong Mang village) was trying to prevent floodwater from flowing into the farm when he was unfortunately swept away by the strong current.
Immediately after receiving the news, the People's Committee of Lac Duong commune coordinated with rescue forces of Lam Dong province to quickly approach the scene. However, heavy rain and strong floodwaters made the search and rescue work difficult.
Heavy rain also caused landslides in many places, some roads were deeply flooded, traffic jams, and caused many areas of vegetables and tubers to be flooded, causing serious damage.
