Finding a solution to rebuild a collapsed bridge under construction in Ha Giang

Việt Bắc |

Ha Giang - After the bridge collapse in Lung Cang village, people in Thuan Hoa commune (Vi Xuyen) hope to soon have a plan to build a new bridge so that travel will no longer be difficult.

Many days have passed since the Lung Cang bridge collapsed, but Mr. Chang Van To, Lung Cang village, Thuan Hoa commune (Vi Xuyen, Ha Giang) is still shocked every time he sees the broken pieces of the unfinished bridge lying in the stream.

At the scene, there were only concrete debris scattered on both sides of the bank, and bare iron bars bent and twisted in the middle of the stream.

Mr. To shared that there used to be a suspension bridge across the stream connecting Lung Cang village and Lung Buong village, but after the big flood in June 2024, the bridge was washed away, making travel difficult.

"When the bridge was swept away by the flood, there was no other way, so people were forced to risk their lives crossing the stream on rudimentary rafts to the other side, which was very dangerous, causing constant anxiety and worry," Mr. To added.

The dream of a solid, sturdy bridge, strong enough to withstand floods and storms, has always been the earnest desire of the people of the two villages here, so that they can travel without fear.

Sharing the same desire for a new, spacious and sturdy bridge, Mr. Ly Thanh Qua, Lung Cang village, Thuan Hoa commune (Vi Xuyen) said that last July, when the news came that the unit and donors would contribute to building a new bridge, the people were very happy and eagerly awaited.

The bridge collapse on November 6th has left everyone heartbroken and sad. They hope that the units will continue to accompany, support, and soon have a plan to build a new bridge to help people travel less arduously.

"For many years, people's travel between Lung Cang and Lung Buong villages has been very temporary and dangerous, especially during the rainy season, with many potential risks.

We hope to have a bridge, not only to solve the problem of transportation but also to ensure safety for people, especially children in the village," Mr. Qua shared.

Informing reporters, a representative of the Next - G Fund for Hanoi's future - the volunteer unit building Lung Cang bridge said that the unit is looking for solutions to repair and rebuild a new bridge for the people.

Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chiem - Chairwoman of Thuan Hoa Commune People's Committee shared that the Lung Cang bridge collapse was an unexpected incident, the cause of the incident is still awaiting verification.

"The new bridge under construction collapsed, making local people very sad. The locality and people hope that volunteers and benefactors will continue to accompany and support in finding solutions to soon build a new bridge to help ensure safer travel," the commune leader informed.

As Lao Dong reported, on the afternoon of November 6, during construction, the bridge connecting Lung Cang and Lung Buong villages (Thuan Hoa commune, Vi Xuyen district) collapsed.

At the time of the incident, it was not raining, the stream water was low, the project had completed two pillars, and was making a suspension span across the stream.

Lung Cang bridge project is 44 meters long, 3.5 meters wide with reinforced concrete structure, 10 tons load capacity, started in July 2024.

The bridge construction cost is about 3 billion VND, supported by the Next - G Fund for Hanoi's future and philanthropists.
