Tuyen Quang - The body of a victim in the case of 4 people missing due to being buried in rocks and soil in Lung Cu commune has been found.

On October 2, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Duc Chung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Lung Cu Commune said that after 2 days of searching, the body of 1 victim in the case of 4 people in Ma Lau A village missing has been found. The victim was identified as Ms. Hau Thi D. (born in 1980).

The authorities are completing the procedures to hand over the burial to the family according to local customs.

"The victim was found at 10:15 a.m. today. At the scene, there are about 150 people continuing to search for the remaining victims.

Excavators have been mobilized to the scene, in addition to digging the soil, they have also mobilized pets to search the stream basins. Today's weather is still raining," said Mr. Chung.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lung Cu commune, up to now, the whole commune has evacuated 40 households from the danger zone, they are currently temporarily staying at schools and cultural houses.

Previously, as Lao Dong reported, at around 6:30 a.m. on September 30, a landslide occurred in Ma Lau A village (Lung Cu). At that time, mud and dirt followed the water, causing flash floods to bury a family. As a result, 4 people are missing.

The victims include: Anh Vang Cha S. (born in 1982), Mrs. Hau Thi D. (born in 1980); 2 grandchildren Vang Xuan H. (born in 2023), Vang Minh H. (born in 2024).

After the natural disaster, the People's Committee of Lung Cu commune directed forces to go to the scene to carry out rescue work. At the same time, support the movement of people and property out of unsafe areas.

According to the Office of the Civil Defense Command of Tuyen Quang province, by 9:00 a.m. on October 2, floods and landslides had left 6 people dead or missing; nearly 6,400 houses were affected; 50 schools and medical stations were damaged; 7,000 hectares of rice fields, corn, crops, industrial crops and fruit trees were flooded and buried.

244 locations on traffic routes to communes were eroded, causing congestion. In addition, many clean water, electricity, and irrigation works were destroyed by floods.

Consecutive storms No. 8, 9, 10 and floods caused by the storm have killed 19 people and many people are missing. Many houses and production and business establishments had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage.
