On September 30, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 15th meeting of the National Steering Committee on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The meeting was held after the 14th Session of only 7 days, demonstrating the Government's determination and determination in combating IUU fishing and removing the IUU yellow card of the European Commission (EC) in 2025.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that storm No. 10 caused great damage to people and property, in which initial statistics showed 41 people dead, missing, many injured; 44,230 houses damaged, roofs blown off; 824 houses flooded...
On behalf of General Secretary To Lam and the leaders of the Party and State, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his condolences and deep sympathy to the people and authorities of localities affected by the storm.
The head of the Government said that in recent days, the Government, the Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Ministers have proactively monitored, closely followed the situation, directed and down to the grassroots level to direct storm prevention and control.

The Prime Minister requested leaders of provinces and cities affected by storm No. 10 to focus on directing and strictly implementing the instructions of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Official Dispatches, and urgently overcome the consequences of storm No. 10.
In particular, stabilizing people's lives and activities; ensuring accommodation, food, food, and necessities for people, resolutely not letting anyone go hungry or cold; repairing schools and classrooms to ensure learning; ensuring medical examination and treatment.
Handling environmental sanitation, avoiding disease outbreaks after floods; restoring transportation infrastructure, irrigation, domestic water, electricity, telecommunications; restoring production and business activities, especially agricultural production...
Sharing about the incident in which two fishing vessels that have just been in distress in Quang Tri are not equipped with journey monitoring devices, the Prime Minister said that although the work of responding to and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 10 in affected localities is a top priority, we do not forget other important and urgent tasks that have been set out, including the work of combating IUU fishing.
The Government leaders reiterated that the Steering Committee meeting must meet weekly to review the tasks and solutions to combat IUU fishing that the Government leaders have assigned to ministries, branches and localities; as well as evaluate the results achieved in the past week.
The highest determination is to control the situation; remove difficulties and obstacles; develop the sustainable aquaculture industry; clearly identify responsibilities; remove the EC's yellow card warning for Vietnam's fisheries.
The Prime Minister requested that at the meeting, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment briefly and clearly report the results implemented in the past week, the IUU anti-using indicators, problems and arising issues; any task that has changed and continues to be promoted to be better; any task that the ministries, branches and localities have not done well must be frankly accepted and evaluated for further handling measures.
