On July 10, Lieutenant Colonel Vo Minh Thang - Head of Soc Trang Ward Police, Can Tho City - said that the unit had handed over the 5-year-old boy who had lost to relatives after nearly a day of receiving, caring for and searching for his family.

Previously, at around 11pm on July 9, people took a boy about 5-6 years old to Soc Trang Ward Police after discovering him sitting alone at a coffee shop on Hung Vuong Street since around 6am without an adult accompanying him. After many hours of not seeing anyone coming to pick him up, the people took him to the police for support.
After receiving the child, the ward police force took care of him, provided food and assistance, and tried to exploit the information to contact the family. However, because he was still young and spoke unclearly (ally), verification was difficult. The ward police used social networks to post information and photos of the child, asking the community to support the search for relatives.

At around 9:00 a.m. on July 10, a man came to claim to be a relative of the child, but due to no documents to prove it, the ward police could not hand him over. This person said that his nephew's name is L.H.Q (born in 2020), the son of Ms. L.T.M.H, residing in Phu Loi ward, Can Tho city. He is P.C.T, the stepfather of Q.
Mr. T said that he and Ms. H got together a few years ago. With difficult family circumstances, Ms. H used to work as a worker for a local seafood processing company, but due to health problems, she retired but had no house, and had to rent a house to live in.
Recently, he returned to Hoa Tu commune to work, so he did not know the situation of the mother and child. When an acquaintance texted him about the information that the lost child was being searched by the police for relatives, he recognized Q. through photos and immediately took a motorbike taxi to the ward to verify.
After finding the child's mother and completing the necessary procedures, the ward police handed the child over to the family.
