On July 18, information from Lai Chau Provincial Police said that on the same morning, the commune police in coordination with functional forces discovered 3 more bodies of victims due to floods.
Among them, one victim was identified as Ban Thi Lai (born 2016, residing in Nam Sang village). The other two victims are Pham Thi Lien (born 1994) and Pham Xuan Truong (born 2018), both residing in Chit village, Muong Than commune.
Currently, functional forces are still urgently deploying rescue work and searching for missing victims.

Previously, according to a quick report from Muong Than Commune Police, prolonged heavy rain on July 16 and 17 caused serious damage to people and property in many localities in Lai Chau province, including Nam Hang, Nam So, Pa U, Muong Than, Bum To and Muong Kim communes.


As of 2:00 PM on July 17, functional forces discovered an unidentified male body floating on the Muong Mit hydropower lake, in Muong Than commune; recording 6 missing people and 1 injured person.
Floods also completely collapsed 4 houses, and 15 people's houses were affected. In the field of agricultural production, about 150.3 hectares of newly planted rice were damaged; floods swept away 15 goats, 4 fish ponds and 40 poultry.


In addition, 3 excavators were buried. Many traffic routes were cut off due to landslides of soil and rock from the positive slope overflowing into the road surface, causing local congestion on National Highway 279 and Provincial Road 127.
At the Pac Ta Commune Police headquarters, the positive taluy behind the headquarters was landslide with a large volume of soil and rock sliding down to the area below, about 10m long, 5m wide and about 5m deep.

To respond to natural disasters, commune police have mobilized more than 500 turns of officers, soldiers, and forces to participate in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level, along with over 150 turns of vehicles to support people to overcome the consequences of rain and floods, ensure security and order in flooded and landslide areas, and ensure safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.
