On the morning of March 21, after many hours of searching, the Fire and Rescue Police Force (PC07) of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police found the body of Captain Nguyen Xuan Hai (born in 1993), Dien Lam Commune Police.
Captain Nguyen Xuan Hai was identified as having sacrificed himself while sweeping illegal sand mining activities on the Cai River, passing through Dong Trang 3 village, Dien Lam commune.
According to initial information, at about 0:40 on the same day, the working group of Dien Lam Commune Police including Captain Nguyen Xuan Hai and Captain Nguyen Ngoc Hai (born in 1995) conducted reconnaissance and grasped the situation of illegal mineral exploitation in the Cai River area.
During the duty, the task force discovered a raft anchored near the bank showing signs of illegal sand mining. When discovered, the subjects quickly pulled the raft to the middle of the river to run away.
Faced with that situation, Captain Nguyen Xuan Hai swam to approach and keep the violating vehicle. However, in the process of clinging to the raft amidst the flowing water and cold weather, Captain Hai unfortunately drowned, sank and went missing.
Immediately after that, Dien Lam Commune Police coordinated with PC07 forces and related units to organize searches throughout the night. By the morning of the same day, Captain Hai's body was found.
Currently, the rescue force is still searching for support tools from officers while on duty.
On the same day, the Dien Lam commune government, including the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, visited, encouraged and expressed deep condolences to the family of Captain Nguyen Xuan Hai.
