On January 22, information from Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital and Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital said that after a few days of intensive treatment, the health of 4 mothers and children poisoned by rat poison in Thach Quang commune, Thanh Hoa province is gradually improving.

Representatives of Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital said that among the 3 young children being treated at the hospital, up to now, 2 elderly patients have gradually recovered, been transferred to the monitoring and normal treatment room. The youngest child, when admitted to the hospital in a state of severe poisoning, has been discharged from the ventilator, switched to oxygen therapy, and no longer has to have blood filtration.
Meanwhile, representatives of Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital said that the mother is still being actively treated at the hospital. The patient still has to be ventilated, showing mild convulsions. However, according to doctors, vital signs are progressing well, and it is expected that ventilation may stop on January 23.
Previously, at about 10 pm on January 19, Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital received 3 pediatric patients who were sisters in the same family, residing in Thach Quang commune, Thanh Hoa province, admitted to the hospital in very serious condition.
At the time of admission, the children were diagnosed with rat poisoning, suspected to be due to sodium fluoroacetate. Immediately after that, the patients were transferred to the Emergency - Intensive Care and Poison Control Department of Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital for treatment.
Doctors and nurses have provided respiratory support, used antibiotics, compensated for fluids and electrolytes, reduced the absorption of toxins, provided nutritional support and detoxification by increasing urination.
According to family members, previously, the children were given milk tea by their biological mother, B.T.N. (born 1991), suspected of mixing rat poison. After drinking, the children developed symptoms of abdominal pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, so they were taken to Cam Thuy General Hospital for first aid. After that, the children were transferred to Ngoc Lac Regional General Hospital to cause vomiting, gastric lavage and intravenous fluids. On the night of January 19, the children were transferred to Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital for emergency and intensive treatment.
In addition to the 3 young children, the mother is suspected of also taking rat poison and was taken to the emergency room at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital in a coma, requiring mechanical ventilation.
The initial cause of the incident was determined to be family conflicts, the mother in anger had foolish behavior.
Currently, the case is being further verified and clarified by functional agencies according to regulations.
