Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee seeks solutions to support Ngoc Linh ginseng growers affected by storms

Quang Ngai - The Provincial Party Committee requested to review and support the damage caused by storms to the Ngoc Linh ginseng growing area, where more than 4,400 ginseng plants were damaged, estimated at more than 2 billion VND.

Recently, in the province, including communes in the Ngoc Linh ginseng growing area, there has been prolonged heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, causing serious damage to crops and production activities of the people. In Mang Ri commune alone, according to statistics, about 4,200 Ngoc Linh ginseng plants from 1 to 5 years old and 264 ginseng plants over 5 years old were damaged, with estimated damage of more than 2 billion VND.

To help people minimize damage caused by storms, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee issued Official Letter No. 74-CV/TU dated July 27, assigning the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant departments, branches and localities to urgently review and fully count the damage caused by storms to Ngoc Linh ginseng growers in the area.

On that basis, there needs to be a timely, effective support plan, suitable to actual conditions to help people overcome the consequences and soon stabilize production. At the same time, guiding the implementation of disaster response measures and sustainable protection of Ngoc Linh ginseng growing area in the coming time.
