On July 29, Nhon Mai Border Guard Station (Nghe An) said it had coordinated with the Nhon Mai commune government to successfully rescue Ms. Nguyen Thi Th. (born in 1969) - a woman trapped in the forest due to floods, having to eat leaves and bamboo shoots for nearly a week to survive.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 22, due to the impact of storm No. 3, the Nam Non River water suddenly rose, sweeping away all the fish cages of Mrs. Th.'s family. Luckily escaped death by sticking to the roots of the trees, Mrs. Th. then ran up the mountainside, hiding in the forest while the flood surrounded her, completely losing contact with the outside.
Without food, Ms. Th. was forced to eat young bamboo shoots, forest leaves, and drink stream water to survive every day. On July 28, after people discovered traces of a suspected missing person in Xa Mat village, the border guards and local authorities immediately deployed the rescue.
According to Mr. Le Hong Thai - Chairman of Nhon Mai Commune People's Committee, where Ms. Th. was stuck about 8km from the commune center, the access road was extremely difficult due to landslides, trees and large garbage blocking the river.

After many hours of crossing the forest, officers and soldiers of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station, along with military doctors and commune officers, approached the scene, performed first aid and brought Ms. Th. to the border guard station safely.
Currently, Ms. Th.'s health is temporarily stable and is being monitored. In recent days, Nhon Mai commune has been a hot spot for floods, many villages have been cut off, traffic on National Highway 16 is still congested due to serious landslides.
