According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police, on October 18 - the first day of the general inspection of road motor vehicles, the Traffic Police force in the whole area detected and handled 416 cases of alcohol concentration violations, including 12 cars, 398 motorbikes and 6 other vehicles.
On October 18, traffic police working groups were deployed heavily on key routes, especially in areas with many restaurants, eateries, and entertainment gathering places - where there is a high risk of drivers after consuming alcohol and beer.


As of the same evening, in the central area, Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 deployed 9 patrol teams simultaneously, coordinating with the commune-level police to control many routes such as Nguyen Phong Sac, Cau Giay, Ho Tung Mau, Hoang Quoc Viet...
During the handling process, the authorities discovered many cases of very high alcohol concentration violations. For example, Mr. V.T.D (born in 1980, residing in Hanoi), driving a motorbike with license plate 29H2-96XX, had an alcohol concentration of 0.932 mg/L of breath, 2.33 times higher than the highest violation level prescribed in Decree 168/2024.
Presenting to the traffic police, Mr. D said that he had drunk both alcohol and beer since the afternoon but subjectively thought that he could still drive a motorbike home.
For this violation, Mr. D was fined 9 million VND by the traffic police team and had his driving license revoked for 23 months.

If at noon, most violators were motorbike drivers, then by the evening and night of October 18, the rate of car drivers violating increased. In the suburban area, Road Traffic Police Team No. 15 deployed control teams on National Highway 3, a route with a large volume of traffic.
As a result, 5 cases of car drivers violating alcohol concentration were promptly detected and handled by the working group.
Lieutenant Colonel Dang Hong Giang, Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 15, said that the route under the management of the unit has many national highways, heavy vehicles and passenger vehicles traveling continuously, so if the driver uses alcohol, there will be great potential risks. Therefore, the unit focused on strict control and strict handling right from the first day of plan implementation.
Also on the same evening, Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 discovered two cases of car drivers violating alcohol concentration while on duty on Lang Road. According to the unit, the lunch shift did not record any cases of violating cars.

A representative of the Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police said that this thematic inspection is part of the general control plan with the Traffic Police force nationwide, demonstrating the determination of the Capital Police in strictly implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Alcohol and Beer Harm, contributing to preventing accidents and building a safe traffic culture.
The Hanoi Traffic Police Department recommends that people absolutely do not drive after drinking alcohol. Low alcohol concentration will also reduce visibility and reflection, easily leading to serious collisions or accidents.
