Regarding the continuous deterioration of Lo Lu Street (Truong Thanh Ward, Thu Duc City), many potholes and deep holes appeared flooded after heavy rains, endangering people and vehicles when participating in traffic, at the Press Conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of June 12, Mr. Le Huu Hao - Deputy Director of the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) - explained the causes and proposed solutions to overcome the situation before the rainy season.
Accordingly, Lo Lu route is currently in the process of upgrading and expanding according to the project approved by the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) since 2018. The project has a total length of about 2,034 m, divided into two construction sections.
In which, section 1 from La Xuan Oai Street to the intersection of the Lap Bridge construction project is about 1,767.11 m long; section 2 from the Chum Chup Bridge construction project to Nguyen Xien Street is about 267 m long.
Regarding the construction progress, phase 2 of the project is being implemented and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, section 1 is still in the process of selecting a contractor. Thu Duc City is expected to receive the site to start construction at the end of June 2025, with the completion and opening of traffic in the second quarter of 2026.
Currently, the site clearance work has been basically completed, but there are still 5 households that have not handed over, affecting the project implementation progress.
According to Mr. Le Huu Hao, because the site cannot be completed and the entire route cannot be constructed synchronously, many sections of the road are only temporarily treated with a layer of sand stone. This is the reason why the road surface is easily peeled and sunk after each heavy rain, such as the rain on June 8, causing many dangerous potholes and deep holes.
In addition, the sections of the road that have been started but have not been completed are still in the process of temporary maintenance. Local authorities are assigned to monitor, be on duty and urgently handle any arising damages to ensure the safety of the people.
The Thu Duc City People's Committee has assigned the Project Management Board, the Technical Infrastructure Center and the People's Committees of relevant wards to strengthen inspection and promptly repair damage, especially during the rainy season. At the same time, the city is speeding up the site clearance progress and completing procedures to select contractors to soon implement the construction of the remaining section.
The local government is committed to ensuring traffic safety during the waiting period for project completion and synchronous use, in order to completely overcome the deterioration of this vital route.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, Lo Lu Street (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) is just a small road, about 2 km long, about 7 m wide, but is a branch road connecting to important roads of Thu Duc City such as La Xuan Oai, Nguyen Xien, Nguyen Duy Trinh, so the density of traffic passing through this road every day is very high.
However, according to records, this road is currently seriously degraded, the road surface is peeling, full of potholes stretching hundreds of meters, even many low-lying holes have formed puddles of water when it rains, becoming a nightmare for people traveling here.
