On September 13, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy signed a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, socio-political organizations, departments, branches, Thu Duc City People's Committee and districts on reducing the scale and postponing the organization of festival activities and events in the city.
In recent days, the impact of storm No. 3 and its circulation has caused serious damage in the northern provinces. Many people died, went missing, were injured, hundreds of houses were swept away by floods, thousands of households were left homeless and isolated in the floods.
Faced with that situation, Ho Chi Minh City decided to adjust the scale of events to demonstrate solidarity and share the losses that people in the North are facing.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the heads of departments, branches, sectors, and organizations, together with the leaders of the Thu Duc City People's Committee and districts to proactively reduce the scale and limit the organization of festivals and events or postpone and reschedule them to a more appropriate time.
Several major events have been planned in Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time, such as the Nghinh Ong - Can Gio promotion program from September 13-15 on Nguyen Hue Street and the Economic Forum opening on September 21.
In addition, the supercar event (Gumball 3000) at Le Loi Street - Tax Trade Center is also scheduled to take place from September 13-15. In addition, the Nghinh Ong - Can Gio festival in Can Gio district is also held from September 16-18.
However, with the storm and flood situation and heavy damage in the North, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a document directing the adjustment of the organization of these activities to show sympathy and sharing with people in flood-affected areas.
