Ho Chi Minh City has just adjusted and supplemented the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025, in which an additional 370 billion VND was allocated to component project 1 of Binh Tien bridge and road - compensation, support, resettlement and relocation of technical infrastructure.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City has also allocated an additional 5 billion VND to prepare for component project 2 - investment in construction of works.
The Binh Tien Bridge and Road Project (from Pham Van Chi Street to Nguyen Van Linh Street) was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in principle for investment from April 2025, with a total investment of nearly 6,300 billion VND, divided into 2 component projects.
Component project 1 has a total investment of more than VND 3,369 billion. This route requires the recovery of 21.27 hectares of land, affecting 389 households.

Of which, the old District 6 has 125 households, including 72 households partially cleared and 53 households completely cleared. The old District 8 has 214 households, including 76 households partially cleared and 138 households completely cleared. The old Binh Chanh District has 50 households, including 41 households partially cleared and 9 households completely cleared.
It is expected that compensation and site clearance will take place from the third quarter of 2025 to the third quarter of 2026.
Component project 2 includes the construction of the elevated Binh Tien bridge and road, with a total investment of more than VND2,915 billion.
The main route is 3.66 km long, built as a overpass, the road surface is 30 - 40 m wide, arranged with 4 - 6 lanes.
The route starts from the Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi intersection (old District 6), crosses Vo Van Kiet Avenue, Tau Hu Canal, Cay Sung Street (old District 8), Doi Canal, Ta Quang Buu Street and ends at Nguyen Van Linh Avenue (old Binh Chanh District).
In addition to the main route, the project also has branches connecting to major routes such as Vo Van Kiet, Binh Dong, Hoai Thanh, Ta Quang Buu and Nguyen Van Linh.
According to the plan, the project will officially start construction in early 2026 and be completed in the third quarter of 2027.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is organizing a competition for the architectural design of Binh Tien bridge and road to seek modern, feasible and symbolic design solutions for the southern gateway area of the city.
Currently, the connection between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and the southern regions mainly relies on some routes such as Nguyen Huu Tho, Duong Ba Trac, Pham Hung, National Highway 50... These routes are often overloaded, especially during rush hour.
As a strategic focus, Binh Tien Bridge and Road is expected to help reduce the load on existing routes, improve the connectivity capacity between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and large urban areas such as South Saigon, Hiep Phuoc and Ring Roads 2, 3, 4 in the future.
