HCMC invests in 5 more overpasses and underpasses to help National Highway 13 escape traffic jams

Ho Chi Minh City is completing legal procedures to invest in at least 5 more overpasses and underpasses on National Highway 13 - the section previously through Binh Duong province.

National Highway 13 is a vital traffic axis connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with the northern localities of the city, especially connecting the industrial park system.

According to records, this route is currently often congested, causing environmental pollution. Some sections are flooded, affecting the lives of people on both sides of the road. Traffic congestion has become increasingly serious at the intersections from Suoi Giua toll station to Vinh Binh bridge.

Becamex Industrial Investment and Development Group - JSC (Becamex Group) said that it has proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to carry out the previous legal procedures to approve the adjustment of the BOT project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 - the section from Vinh Binh Bridge to Le Hong Phong intersection, about 13 km long.

National Highway 13 will be expanded from 6 to 8 lanes. At the same time, the overpass is considered a solution to help National Highway 13 escape congestion at intersections.

Becamex Group said that the enterprise has proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to build 2 more 4-lane overpasses at the intersection through Binh Hoa and Huu Nghi intersections, and the overpass at Hoa Lan intersection.

In addition to the two overpasses above, in this 13 km section, National Highway 13 also intersects with the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project under construction. According to the Binh Duong Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project is to build an overpass across National Highway 13. The overpass is under construction and the overpass span is being constructed at the same time. It is expected that this year, the overpass span across National Highway 13 will be assembled.

In addition to the 3 overpasses, on National Highway 13, underpasses will be built at Phuoc Kien intersection and Cho Dinh intersection - the section passing through Thu Dau Mot ward and Phu Loi ward.

The Binh Duong Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the unit has started construction of the Phuoc Kien River underpass. This project has a total investment of 1,050 billion VND. The project to build a reinforced concrete tunnel has an clearance of 5 m. The design speed for the underpass is 40 km/h. The length of the tunnel is about 630 m, the road to the underpass is 230 m long. Construct a closed tunnel with 4 lanes, 22.4 m wide.
