Hanoi widens arterial road to 80m, builds another overpass

Hanoi will widen the old Son Tay town bypass (from the intersection of Military Medical Institute 105 to the intersection of National Highway2) to 80m and build an additional overpass on the route.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan has signed a Decision approving the Investment Project to expand the old Son Tay town bypass road (from the intersection of Military Medical Institute 105 to the intersection of National Highway 32. - now in Son Tay and Tung Thien wards.

The route is about 4.43km long, with a cross-section of 80m.

The starting point is at the intersection of the 105 Military Medical Institute, the end point is at the intersection of National Highway 32 with Vinh Thinh Bridge and Ring Road 5 according to the plan.

Classify the route as an urban main road; a parallel road as a regional main road; a special-level traffic project invested by the People's Committee of Son Tay Ward.

This is an important traffic route in the local socio-economic development strategy. The investment in the construction of the route plays an important role in connecting the Northwestern provinces, National Highway 32, National Highway 2C with National Highway 21A to the expressway to Hanoi and the provinces.

The construction route is according to the red line boundary documents of the old Son Tay town bypass, from the intersection of the 105 Military Medical Institute to the intersection of National Highway 32 (Km0+00 - Km4+980), scale 1/500 approved in Decision No. 2279/QD-UBND dated May 20, 2011 of the City People's Committee.

The route will have 4 intersections including: First intersection (exit 4 of the 105); end intersection with National Highway 32 connecting at the current status; 1 intersection with the planned road; 1 intersection with the Ngo Quyen - Phung Hung road construction investment project.

The bridge on the main route has a spans using a steel reinforced concrete arch (BTCT) running on top, the arch span length is 51.5m, the arch height is 0.9m.

The bridge consists of 2 units 3m apart, each unit is 16m wide. Total global length is 64.6m; U-shaped bridge abutments in BTCT; foundation structure using BTCT bored pile foundation.

The parallel bridge has a spans using a single arch of the Organizing Committee running above, the spans of the arch are 51.5m long, the arch height is 0.9m. The bridge consists of 2 units on the left and right parallel roads, each unit is 18.5m wide. Total global length is 64.6m. The U-shaped bridge abutment is made of reinforced concrete; the foundation structure uses reinforced concrete bored pile foundation.

Along with that, the project will synchronously build a technical infrastructure system, sidewalks, lighting, traffic organization, trees, renovate and relocate floating technical infrastructure, restore irrigation works (culverts, canals), ... to ensure compliance with current standards and regulations.

The project will be implemented from 2026-2029 with the People's Committee of Son Tay Ward as the investor.
