On September 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) is coordinating with a consulting unit to prepare a feasibility study report, and at the same time complete the procedures to submit to competent authorities for approval of 3 metro projects, expected to start construction at the end of 2026.
Binh Duong New City Metro - Suoi Tien
Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien Metro is 30.66km long, starting point at S1 station, A1 roundabout area, Binh Duong ward; ending point at S17 station, Dong Hoa ward, connected to urban railway line No. 2 of Dong Nai.
The route passes through 7 wards including Binh Duong, Phu Loi, Thuan Giao, An Phu, Di An, Tan Dong Hiep and Dong Hoa.
The project builds 17 elevated stations, numbered from S1 to S17, along with Phu Chanh Depot to serve the gathering, maintenance and operation of trains.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete the line by the end of 2030. When put into operation, the metro line will connect Binh Duong New City with the new Mien Dong Bus Station area, Suoi Tien and the urban railway network of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai.
Thu Dau Mot Metro - Ho Chi Minh City
Thu Dau Mot - Ho Chi Minh City Metro is about 33.2km long, passing through 16 wards. Of which, about 17.8km is elevated, the rest is underground.
The starting point of the line is at station C0, connecting to station S5 area of the Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien Metro line in Binh Duong ward. The ending point is at Tao Dan station, connecting to Metro line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) in Ben Thanh ward.
The entire route has 24 stations, including 11 elevated stations from C0 to C10 and 13 underground stations from C11 to C23. The project also has Hiep Binh Phuoc Depot covering about 26.8ha in Tam Binh and Hiep Binh wards.
To implement the project, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to recover about 81.2ha of land from 2,681 households and organizations. Of which, about 398 cases are completely cleared.
The total cost of compensation, support and resettlement is estimated at about 34,374 billion VND, using the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete the route by 2030. When completed, the route will directly connect the Binh Duong area with the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
Metro No. 6
Metro No. 6 (Tan Son Nhat - Phu Huu) is about 23km long, passing through 15 wards. The starting point is at Ba Queo station (ST01), near the Tan Ky Tan Quy - Truong Chinh intersection, connecting to Metro No. 2. The ending point is in the Phu Huu area, connecting to the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line.
The route has about 19km underground, the rest is elevated, with 17 stations including 13 underground stations and 4 elevated stations. The depot is located in the Binh Trieu area.
The project is expected to recover about 95.3ha of land from 2,501 households and organizations. Of which, about 2,256 cases are completely cleared.
The total cost of compensation, support and resettlement is expected to be more than 26,336 billion VND, from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete Metro No. 6 by 2030, helping to connect Tan Son Nhat airport with Long Thanh airport through the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line.
The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board said that it is also studying and preparing to invest in line No. 3 (Vung Tau - Ba Ria - Phu My).
Notably, MAUR coordinated with the Department of Construction to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to approve the policy of studying the extension of Line No. 3 to Long Thanh International Airport, connecting with Thu Thiem - Long Thanh urban railway line and Metro No. 2 Dong Nai (extending Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro to and Long Thanh airport).
