On June 7, the Compensation and Site Clearance Board of Thu Duc City said that two sections of Ring Road 2 are being focused on site clearance, including: the section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street, 3.5 km long, and the section from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street, 2.8 km long.
Both sections will be cleared with a 67 m road, building parallel roads on both sides (17 m on each side, 3 lanes), the middle part will be reserved for future expansion.
The total area of land to be recovered is more than 61 hectares, involving 1,152 households.
Of which, the section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap occupies the largest area with 47.66 hectares, affecting 890 cases, with a total compensation, support and resettlement cost of up to VND 6,672 billion.
The remaining section, from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street, needs to reclaim 13.49 hectares of land, related to 262 cases, with a compensation cost of about VND1,954 billion.
Mr. Ho Van Phuoc - Deputy Head of the Compensation and Site Clearance Board of Thu Duc City - said that up to now, the locality has paid compensation to 663 cases, with a total amount of more than 4,903 billion VND.
In addition, Thu Duc City has also transferred more than 536 billion VND to bank accounts for 150 cases that have not agreed to receive compensation, support and resettlement.
Up to now, Thu Duc City has received land from 169 cases, with a total handover area of 17.39 hectares.
According to Mr. Ho Van Phuoc, Thu Duc City People's Committee has directed relevant wards to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to agree with the project's policy, and promptly hand over the site to implement construction on schedule.
At the same time, Thu Duc City Party Committee has established 5 specialized working groups to contact and mobilize affected households and organizations, thereby removing obstacles and speeding up the handover of the site.

Previously, in April 2025, Ho Chi Minh City started construction of two bidding packages for bomb and mine clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure for two sections of Ring Road 2 through Thu Duc City. Both sections of this route are expected to be completed in 2027.
The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 plays a particularly important role in the urban transport infrastructure development strategy.
When completed, the two sections through Thu Duc City will not only contribute to the closure of the entire 64 km Ring Road 2 of Ho Chi Minh City but also expand urban space to the East.
In particular, this route will enhance the connectivity between major port clusters such as Cat Lai, Phu Huu, Truong Tho and the High-Tech Park, thereby promoting economic and logistics development, while reducing the load on inner-city routes that are often overloaded.
