On December 10, the 6th session of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council continued the second working day, questioning the Director of the Department of Food Safety and the Director of the Department of Construction.
Delegate Le Thi Kim Hong raised the current situation of Ba Queo area ( Au Co - Tan Ky Tan Quy section) is often seriously congested, causing frustration for people.
Although the two projects to expand Truong Chinh and Tan Ky Tan Quy streets have had an investment policy for a long time, the progress is still slow, making the need for infrastructure improvement urgent. The delegate requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction to clarify the plan and start date.

Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned the Department to coordinate with the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to complete the proposal to adjust the investment policies for the two above-mentioned projects.
According to the plan being studied, Truong Chinh Street (Cong Hoa - Au Co section) will be upgraded and expanded with a cross-section of 60 m.
Tan Ky Tan Quy Street (Binh Long - Le Trong Tan - Cong Hoa section) is expanded to 30 m.
It is expected that after the investment policy is approved by the competent authority in the first quarter of 2026, the projects will start construction in the third quarter of 2027 and will be constructed within about 12 months.
The Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa route is a vital route at the Northwest gateway, connecting previous districts such as District 12, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Hoc Mon district with the city center and Tan Son Nhat airport. However, traffic on these two routes is currently exceeding the designed capacity, often congested.

In addition to expanding the road, Mr. Tran Quang Lam said that Ho Chi Minh City is studying investment in an elevated road along the Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa axis, 11.2 km long, including 4 lanes, extending from An Suong intersection to the airport area.
Notably, Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) will officially start construction on January 15, 2026 and be completed in 2030.
When put into operation, Metro Line 2 will add a large volume of transportation method, serving the travel needs between the center and the Northwest region, while reducing pressure on the existing road system.
